So, I know, I know, the title is totally clickbait-y, but we just had our most successful month to date and I know that SO often, people say, “here’s what I made and you can too!” but never really give definitive examples or numbers or anything, ya know?
Pin me to Read Later!
Yep, totally ????????
Well, I want to brick-a-brick-break it down for you, number by number.
Last month, as a lot of you probably remember, we hosted the FREE Creative Brand Summit.
It. Was. A. Raving success.
And I have some reasons WHY and HOW it was which I’ll give to you super soon.
But before I do so, I want to dish some numbers, because I’m always personally curious how these sorts of things look on the inside, and so, since I’m not, like, that original, I assume some of you might be, too.

+ Worst-case-scenario goal was $5,000. If we walked away with $5,000 after all of planning involved, then we’d have called it a learning experience and *possibly* done another with some major major tweaks – this was our minimum goal.
+ I’d-be-happy-with goal was $10,000-$13,000. This would have been a, “okay, this was worth it, let’s see what we can do differently to make the next one better” goal.
+ I’m-over-the-moon, YES goal was $20,000. And we hit it! This was the “there’s no way this will happen, but wouldn’t it be cool??” goal. And for our first Summit ever, I’m super pleased with this!
$5,189.60 – Sponsors. We had advertisement spaces that we sold to brand stylists during our major traffic month(s). For the next Summit, we’ll boost visibility even more to maximize visibility for our amazing sponsors.
$17,354.20 – All Access Pass. We sold 217 Early Bird Passes at $49; 90 Regular Priced Passes at $69; and 7 Last Chance Passes at $89. Next Summit, we may raise the prices slightly.
$1,592 – The Creativepreneur Brand eCourse upsell. We’re currently pre-selling our Branding eCourse for 50% off ($199 currently) and we added this as a bonus upsell about halfway through the Summit. Next time, we’ll add it on as an upsell from the get go 🙂 (Also, it’s totally still available at the $199 price if you wanna snag it now 😉 ).
TOTAL: $24,135.80 (Whaaaaaaaat!!?!)
$2,239.34 – Affiliates. Hands down, the only way we made it to our push goal was through our amazing affiliates. We paid out our biggest affiliate just over $600. More on this below 🙂
$1,500 – Video Editing. Our second biggest expense and totally worth it. Next summit, we’ll likely pay our editor a bit more, as the workload this time was bigger than Jessica had anticipated, though she was a baller through the whole thing! We’ll also have better tools for streamlining this process, however, too 🙂
$445 – Office rental. Our residence at the time didn’t have many places to record that were particularly pretty or quiet, so I opted to rent an office space. For our next Summit, we won’t have to worry about this, as our apartment has some amazing meeting spaces to record in!
$424 – Speaker Gifts. I really enjoyed treating our Keynote speakers to a little somethin’ somethin’. We used Greetabl and various other gifts to send our speakers a sweet little gift in the mail with the Summit announcement and a thank you. Many of them used this gift as an unboxing in their IG Stories, so win win!
$300 – Graphic Designer. When I was at the point of pulling my hair out, having someone else handle the graphic design was SO amazing. Even though I *could* do it, I didn’t need to, and I’m so grateful to have had Katie‘s amazing help!
$199 – Affiliate program (Samcart). Next time, we’ll be sticking to Teachable for our affiliates! Samcart is REALLY wonderful and easy to use, however, our All-Access Pass is hosted on Teachable for a super convenient way to go back through the content, so we’ll be keeping it all there for ease of use.
$97 – Convertkit. We started on the $29 plan, but as subscriptions came rolling in, we had to upgrade to the next tier up, which was super exciting! We went from 400ish subscribers to 2400ish after all was said and done.
$39 – Teachable. We’re hosting the All-Access Pass on Teachable and we’ll keep it there 🙂 We’ll also be using this for affiliates next time, assuming it works smoothly!
$19 – Fomo. This is an app/plugin that creates a tiny pop up at the bottom of the screen, saying that such and such person just purchased the Pass or signed up for their free ticket. I’m not sure how well it converted, though we got very few clicks, so this will likely be something that we cut next time.
$19 – Chatroll. Such a great purchase! Having a chatbox was an amazing way to build community.
$0 – Video Hosting (Youtube). We tried using Vimeo, however, with the volume of videos we were uploading (we had 43 speakers total!), it was going to cost us a fortune. Youtube is maybe slightly less glamorous, however, it worked out really well! We’ll be using that again for the next one.
$0 – Platform Hosting. Technically, this isn’t $0, however, it’s $0 *additional* to what we pay normally for our website. We hosted the summit on our own site, rather than something like Click Funnels, or Webinarjam (more info on this at the bottom of the email if you want to hit reply!)
GRAND TOTAL NET PROFIT: $18,854.46
So, even with all of our expenses, we STILL came just over $1,000 below our push goal, which is insane to me.
It's about giving freely, *just because*. Click To Tweet
1. Make it easy for influencers to help promote.
Most people are looking to:
a. make money &
b. build their email lists.
Unfortunately, if you have a small reach yourself, then asking an influencer to promote your product may not look like an amazing opportunity to them – how will they know if your product is worth pitching to their own valuable followers?
2. Show the potential.
When we reached out to our VERY first speaker, we did NOT say, “Hey! We don’t have any speakers lined up, and we don’t have any plans – will you be a speaker??”
Do you see yourself jumping up and down to get in on this amazing opportunity? I don’t, not really, and influencers won’t either.
What we did, was send out an email with our INTENTIONS (and we said as much – “our intentions are…”, etc).
Basically, we (again) wanted to make it as easy for them as possible to say, “Duh! Of course I want to be affiliated with all of these amazing people!” even if WE weren’t necessarily even on their radar to begin with.
3. Give give give
One of our amazing speakers told me in our inquiry email that she literally NEVER did virtual summits.
And yet, here Fiona was!
And the reason for it (I don’t know, maybe she’ll say otherwise 😛 ), was that I gave gave gave a lot ahead of time.
For weeks in advance (for a different launch that we did), I talked up her newest book, Brand Brilliance. I posted probably 5-10 times about it on Instagram, tagging her each time (she was probably sick of me, haha).
I also happened to order said books wholesale from her, too.
They actually got lost in the mail and we had a lot of back and forth communication during that. Again, I bet she was totally sick of me.
But I didn’t mind the wait, and she appreciated my grace during the time. I happened to ask her if she would be a speaker later that week and she said yes.
Note: I didn’t do this ONLY because I wanted her as a speaker.
In fact, while I was posting about her book, I don’t think the Summit was even on MY radar.
It’s about giving freely, *just because*. If you admire someone, let the world know. And make sure you tag them in the posts 😉
We’ve had similar experiences with other industry leaders/professionals and it’s the same results – post about them, share their magnificence with the world and you’ll jump onto their radar. I bet the next time you ask for something from them, they’ll be thrilled to help <3
So! There’s my dirty laundry. It’s scary sharing numbers in detail, but I hope it helps spark some excitement in someone!

Based on our experience with the Creative Brand Summit, would you be interested in a course or program on launching your OWN Summit?
I’m considering creating a course with the email templates that we used for our own summit, a Showit website theme that we created for our own Summit, and all of the tools and systems that we have in place for our current and future Summits.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on if you’ve ever considered hosting a Summit and if that’d be something you’d be interested in! 🙂
Leave a comment and let me know if this is something I should spend some time investing in or if you have any questions! ???????? ❤️
